In order to avoid problems with spelling errors between the Spanish, English and sometimes native indian words/names, we implement a search that uses phonemes and searches for similar sounding words instead of using the literal spelling.
This has the advantage that you are more likely to find what you are looking for but, at times, can also result in less relevant search results due to phonetic similarities between otherwise distinct words.
